What is the Elite Retreat?
Every fall, Camp Michawana hosts one of the most intense and unforgettable weekends of the year: Elite Retreat. This is not your average retreat. Elite is a high-energy, high-competition, high-spiritual-challenge weekend designed for campers who stood out during the summer and are ready to be pushed to the next level.
Invitations are sent out by mid-September to campers who attended a week of summer camp and earned their All-Around Camper “M” Award. The M Award recognizes campers who demonstrated leadership, character, teamwork, and a Christlike attitude throughout the week.
Campers who attended a week of camp but did not earn their M Award may still be invited through a counselor nomination.
If your camper earned their M Award but you didn’t receive an invitation, don’t worry! Sometimes things slip through the cracks. Please email us at [email protected] or submit a nomination through the nomination form so we can make sure your camper gets the opportunity they earned.
What to Expect
Elite Retreat is built for campers who love competition, teamwork, and growing in their faith. The entire weekend is packed with big games, team challenges, powerful chapel sessions, and moments that push campers outside their comfort zones.
We host two Elite weekends:
- JV Elite – for campers who were Pioneers during the summer
- Varsity Elite – for campers who were Crusaders or TTers
When campers arrive, they’ll experience one of the most exciting parts of the weekend: the team draft. Everyone is split up and drafted onto teams for the retreat. That means no cabinmate requests—because we’re mixing everyone up!
The goal? New teammates, new friendships, fierce competition, and a weekend that challenges campers to step up, work together, and grow stronger in their walk with Christ.
Elite isn’t just another camp weekend.
It’s where campers come to prove they’re ready for more.

Bring along:
- Plenty of clothes, you may get wet or dirty
- Sleeping bag & pillow
- Toiletries
- Closed toe shoes and boots
- Towel
- Bible, notebook + pen
- Coat, hat, gloves
- Extra socks, it’s wet!
Do Not Bring:
- Cell phones or other electronic devices
- Smoking or vaping supplies
- Drugs or alcohol
- Bad attitude 🙂
We want to provide a Camp Michawana experience for all kids, regardless of financial circumstances or uncertainty. Scholarships are made possible by the generous gifts of individuals and organizations. To be considered for a scholarship please fill out the scholarship request form online or print and mail it to 6475 Wilkins Rd, Hastings, MI 49058
Scholarship requests must be submitted at least two weeks before your child(s) camp start date.
Check-in is on Friday from 7:00pm-7:30pm in the Dining Hall. For directions to camp use this address: 6475 Wilkins Road Hastings, MI 49058. Eat before you come.
Check-out is Sunday from 12:00N-1:30pm in the chapel. Photo I.D. required at time of pick-up. Campers will be dismissed.
- If cancellation is made at least two weeks in advance, deposit is non-refundable but transferable (within calendar year)
- Cancellations within two weeks of camp start date will result in forfeiture of deposit
- No-shows for a scheduled retreat will result in forfeiture of the full retreat fee
